I really wish I hadn't wasted my money with Lume Cube, I bought 2 LC-V2 lights and if I leave them on the shelf for more than a couple of weeks, the batteries are dead. Everyone knows that batteries should not be stored flat, so I doubt these will last very long before they are sent off to the recycle depot. Support was no use, they just denied the problem exists.
As a product, I like their stuff and order from as needed. But a couple of their products were not up to standards and I written two 3-star or below reviews which apparently they don't acknowledge or post on their website. This is outright dishonesty to their customer base.
This is the oringal review I TRIED to write on LumeCubes website. However, they apparently only show 4-5 star reviews. SO DISHONEST. Which is why I knocked them down from 2 stars to 1. :)
"I ordered all three panels so I could see the differences and light quality myself. For some reason Lumecube has hundreds of images and videos of the panels and hardly any (that I could find) of the light on a subject - which is what I as a consumer most need to see. It's like they think they are selling chairs or something. They should have controlled videos of each panel lighting a subject in the same environment at the same distance wherein the light changes from warm to cool, bright to dim, etc...
I contacted customer service to get some assistance. I figured they could direct me to some videos or images that would tell me what I needed to know. They said I could "check out their YouTube channel". Um, yeah, sorry. I'm not going to spend hours combing through your channel to find out what I need to know in order to make a purchase from you. A customer should not have to work that hard.
So I bought all three. I really did not like the quality of light. It's not flattering and kind of just looks like a glorified flash light. If it's your only light source then it really looks like a glorified flash light. I found they all look best on a dim setting with an additional room light on.
The Pro has color options, which could be fun for more creative videos and filming, but it's nothing you can't create with gels. I also didn't like that it only dims to 5%. The other two dim to 1%, so why not the larger one, for which dimming would be even more important? Also, if you want to control the light with your phone, but you are recording with that same phone, it gets a little convoluted.
As objects they are really nice to hold and touch, they have a nice feel and they are very portable.
I was told that they all come ready to be clipped to a phone or computer. This is not true. You have to order a separate mount for that.
Anyway, I decided they just weren't worth the money because the quality of light they emit is just not pleasant. As someone who works in fashion and film, I can say the lighting does NOT look professional."
The Lume products seem to be great, but the customer service is the worst. Phone messages and emails go unanswered and no one ever cares enough to get back to you. In addition, the chat option is useless as no one is available to answer your concerns.
The Lumecube Mini is a good solid product, very happy with the light! However, I ordered a 2nd one. It says shipped, Fedex says it never got the product. "Trying" to contact customer support is impossible. eMails and phone calls go unanswered. Good product, HORRIBLE customer service!
Product is acceptable, not stellar. Customer service is horrible if you ever have to get ahold of them.
